Subject: The original version is much better
The original East German version of the film Der Schweigende Stern AKA The Silent Star is far superior (and longer) than the butchered and dubbed American version 'First Spaceship On Venus'.
The former East German film company DEFA recently re-issued the original version on DVD and the print is beautiful.

There are numerous examples of this butchering of communist era Russian and Eastern European science-ficttion films by America with Roger Corman been a classic example of this cultural theft (buying up these films very cheap then re-editing them and overdubbing with American voices and giving them a new storyline and title).

It is an interesting experience to watch the two versions back to back.

Subject: pretty boring
Even if you love old sci-fi and bad movies, as I do, this one is pretty tough to sit through. It goes nowhere and it goes slowly. If memory serves there is an MST3K for this one.
